What-the-fuk-ium

So in discussing that crappy movie with my wife, she enlightens me on why "they" - the director or whom ever - came up with the term for the precious ore the company wanted to mine... Unobtainium... So... obviously it is obtainable... So we figure, rareranium was too rare... and they just couldn't find, hardtofindium!

Oh my god, the movie, Avatar... Sucked!!!

...but the special effects are awesome!!!! There was a moment when I thought to myself, the effects are so awesome, I want to go see it again,... in 3D!!! Then about 1/2 way thru the movie the over 'cliche'd' storyline/plot just killed it. Even tho the effects are awesome! you'll want to walk out half way thru.

sigh,... I stayed, watched the whole movie and everything was predictable and happened as soon as you would expected it to... Come on..., the ex-military mercenary commander stuck on blowing everything up actually said "we must fight terror with terror" in his motivation, lets go kill the natives, speech.

Here is a good review. I don't feel like typing about it anymore.

Laser Vision... We're almost there!!!

Sorry, been away for a bit... like there's anyone reading this :-)
Anyway:
'Laser vision' offers new insights:
A system that projects light beams directly into the eye could change the way we see the world.

Why you should have, and use, external backups!

OK... can someone say... external backup?...

BBC News: Hackers 'destroy' flight sim site

That's just bad IT'n.

What the F#@K!

I seriously don't understand why this person was not sentenced to death. He should be tortured but then kept alive so he can witness his own body being dismembered... then left to die. Then have the body parts thrown in a garbage dump...

laptop/notebook/netbook Idea

Alright, here's the new Amazon Kindle DX.
http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2346639,00.asp

Ok,... so this device has built-n evdo (3G wireless capabilities), an accelerometer, 4GB of memory,... etc...
All this in a device that's as thin as a pencil and about as large as a sheet of paper (10.4*7.2).

And,... we also have pretty decent touchscreen technology (iPhone/touch) out there. So how come there isn't a laptop/notebook/netbook/whatever computer the same size w/a touchscreen capabilities (and color since the kindle only uses 16shades of grey), and I'd actually say a virtual keyboard too... Maybe. The Kindle has a qwerty at the bottom. looks ok but i doubt you could speed type on it.
Now add bluetooth, wiFi, up the HD space and I'm sure it would sell just a much as that airbook apple put out.
Now price it around $800 - $1000 (the Kendle DX is ~$500) and you'd make a killing!

Why I got the G1 and scrap'd the iPhone...

Ok, this is the main reason (ok, one of the main reasons) why I switched from the iphone to the g1...
...about to leave work and I downloaded an audiobook, mp3 format, (it could have been music, doesn't matter) and copied it to the micro SDcard on the G1 and listened to it on the way home! (Just put it into it's own folder, copy that folder and that is the album folder on the G1)

With the iphone I would have had to, First, install iTunes; Second, authorized the "work" computer ( I already have 5 personal computers authorized, that's the max ); Third, copied the mp3's into itunes; Fourth, sync w/the phone... then, THEN I'd be able to listen...

Cool hats

When corporations/networks become more powerful then the government...

Yea, they already are but this is just a little more public and in your face:

Fox won't air Obama's prime-time press conference

(CNN) – Fox Broadcasting Company announced Monday it will not carry President Barack Obama's prime time press conference marking his first 100 days in office, the first time a broadcast network has refused an Obama administration request for that valuable airtime.

The network will instead carry its regularly scheduled episode "Lie to Me," according to its Web site. The show is among the network's most popular and draws an average of 13 million viewers a week. That compares to the relatively paltry 4.2 million who watched the president's last prime-time press conference on Fox....

Netiquette

flttr... N Ur Brain!

Flutter

the next thing in twitter

Ok, so I'm sure if this has already been thought of yet or has already been done...
But here's the next big twitter thing... First, let me say I don't twitter, don't even care for it (yet I'm typing a blog...), I'd rather just send a txt. Anyway...

A serial killer twittering their actions, all the way from the first sighting of the mark, the first stalking attempts, the pursuing, to the first knife thrust, the last, then death.

Yea, that will probably be done in the next big horror flix too. (Hey, copyright, right here, I'll take $100K after taxes, thank you)

G1 vs iPhone

I had an iphone... now I just purchased the G1 (Google phone)...
I have to say I didn't realize how much I missed an actual keyboard till i had one again. And since the G1 has about as many apps as the iphone, I was able to quickly find all the apps I use, for the G1. But, I was bummed out that the G1 didn't have a vitual keyboard as apart of it's general apps. When I want to send a quick "ok" sms response I have to slide open to the keyboard and use two hands (thumbs)... Then slide it back. What about when Ur driving?... Damn, that sucks :-)
But there's a pretty good app "ChompSMS" that mimics the iphones sms app... Yes it displays the stupid "message bubbles" - damn they take up sooo much screen space! Bad idea.
But, chompSMS, does give you several options to change... mainly the color of the stupid bubbles and the backgound, to name a couple. Also, and this kicks the iphone's a$s... if you turn the phone the keyboard turns too!!! Booyah! Now just give an option to switch off those stupid bubbles!

Now, I will say that the iphone's screen is a bit larger and it's browser (Safari) is better then G1's standard browser. I've only tried one other, which really sucked on the G1. I really like the way Safari initially displays web pages and allows double taps to focus on specific paragraphs, pictures, and/or columns.

The overall touchscreen responsiveness of the iphone is better and smoother then the G1. But for me that's ok.

I have more to say but I'm tired now. be back later.
